Yuan Shu leads an army to attack Xuzhou. Yuan Shu writes to Lu Bu promising to send 200,000 drachms of rice to induce him to attack Xiapi, and Yuan Shu thus defeats Liu Bei and captures Xuzhou, including Guangling. In order to seize Xuzhou, Yuan Shu incited Hao Meng, a general of Lu Bu's army, to mutiny, but in time, Gao Shun, a general of Lu Bu, put down Hao Meng's rebellion. For this reason, Yuan Shu, fearing that Lu Bu would endanger himself, asked Lu Bu's daughter for his son's hand in marriage, which Lu Bu agreed to, and after relieving his worries, Yuan Shu once again pointed his sword at Liu Bei.
