News Reports IGP Declares Bauchi Islamic Preacher Wanted by Joshua Biem February 9, 2024 Published by Joshua Biem February 9, 2024 8 Bauchi State Police Command has declared a famous Bauchi based Islamic cleric, Dr Idris Abdulaziz wanted for alleged contempt of court. Abdulaziz who is the Chief Imam of Dutsen Tanshi Jumaat mosque in Bauchi got into trouble after he was accused of inciting his disciples. Idris who has been on trial for alleged blasphemy in his preaching since 2022 is facing fresh charges as filed by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in the State and the Police, for ‘inciting disturbances, insulting or inciting contempt of religious creed’ at the Chief Magistrate Court. Vanguard reports that the Inspector General of Police issued a public notice for his arrest in a Special Police Gazette Bulletin issued on Thursday. He urged security agencies and the general public to report the whereabouts of the clergy to the Police. “If seen, arrest and hand over to the nearest Police Station or to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department Bauchi State Command, or call, 08151849417, 09048226246. “A handsome reward awaits any person(s) with information,” the Gazette stated.
