News Reports Customs Intercepts 940 Rounds Of Ammunition In Ogun State by Joshua Biem March 18, 2024 Published by Joshua Biem March 18, 2024 6 The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 940 cartridges of live ammunition meticulously concealed in sacks of garri and other harmful substances imported from the neighbouring Republic of Benin. Parading the seizures at the Idiroko Command of the Customs, the area Comptroller, Ogun Command 1, Ahamadu Shuaibu, said this was made possible through credible intelligence gathering from members of the public which also led to the interception of 3,172 parcels of Indian Hemp among other prohibited items. He said “the Command also recorded the seizures of 123 sacks and 3,172 parcels of cannabis sativa, commonly known as Indian Hemp; 380 pieces of donkey skin; 304 bales of used clothes; and 910 cartons of frozen poultry products, among others. While enlisting the cooperation and understanding of the general public, the area comptroller warned smugglers to rethink their actions as the command would not compromise national security for their nefarious and selfish interests. “We value the lives of our people and we try our best to safeguard it. I would like to state emphatically that our operatives bear arms to protect their lives where and when necessary. Any threat to their lives will not be treated with levity,” he added.
