Muslims in Osun Pray for Rain as Drought Threatens Plantations, Crops

Hundreds of Muslim faithful gathered at the Osogbo Central Eid prayer ground on Sunday, offering a special prayer for rain as crops continue to wither across the State. The spiritual gathering led by Sheikh Musa Animashaun, the Grand Imam and Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas, Osun State, highlighted the community’s deep concern for their agricultural livelihoods and the need for divine intervention.

As the drought continues to take its toll, religious leaders attending the prayer session, called on the people of Osun State to reflect on their relationship with God, saying that the sins being committed might be contributing factors to the ongoing dry spell. The leaders emphasized that fearing Allah and seeking forgiveness are crucial for ensuring that prayers for much-needed rain are heard.

Animashaun called on the residents of the State to seek forgiveness and blessings from God, adding that “whenever there is a possible threat of drought, we are enjoined by Allah (SWT) through His Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) that we should go back to Him, and seek His guidance and forgiveness.”Reports from various communities indicate that essential crops such as maize, yam, and millet are drying up, prompting fears of significant losses among the farmers.
