News Reports Families of Slain Fishermen Get N6m, Others From Zulum by Nextier SPD March 13, 2023 Published by Nextier SPD March 13, 2023 20 Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has supported families of 30 fishermen killed in Dikwa, a border town with Cameroun, with cash and sundry relief materials. According to the governor, the distributed relief materials and N6 million cash (N200,000 per family) are to support the families of slain fishermen during their mourning. Boko Haram killed the 30 fishermen on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, while fishing and fetching firewood at the Mukdolo village in Ngala Local Council. Presenting the relief materials at the palace of Shehu of Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Ibrahim El-Kanemi, the governor stated: “The border town of Dikwa was occupied and converted to a caliphate by Boko Haram in 2014. Thereafter, it was liberated by the military and rebuilt by the state government for displaced persons’ resettlement.” “On behalf of the government and people of the state, I am here to extend our sympathy to you over the killing of our brothers who had gone to earn a living.” He urged them to take solace in God, who alone could take life. The El-Kanemi, on behalf of the families of slain fishermen, expressed gratitude to the governor for supporting the affected families.
