News Reports Gunmen Kidnap Two in Abuja Community Midnight Raid by Joshua Biem July 17, 2023 Published by Joshua Biem July 17, 2023 5 No fewer than two persons have been kidnapped in the Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory. Our correspondent gathered that gunmen stormed the area in the early hours of Sunday and took away two residents. A resident of the area, who identified himself as Yakubu told our correspondent that the gunmen were about six. “Around 1am today (Sunday), gunmen numbering six came to our area, shot indiscriminately while the operation lasted, and kidnapped two people,” Yakubu said. The Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, also confirmed the incident to our correspondent. She, however, claimed that the victims had been rescued by the police and would be reunited with their loved ones. She said efforts were ongoing to arrest the suspects. “There was a swift response from our men from Mpape and the Command Tactical Team. They mounted pressure on the criminals which forced them to leave behind the victims. “They will soon be reunited with their family members. We are also on the trail of the suspects,” Adeh said. On June 3, 2023, armed men invaded the Mashafa area of Mpape and kidnapped four residents in an operation that lasted about an hour.
