News Reports IG Mourns Ekiti Monarch, DCP by Joshua Biem June 5, 2024 Published by Joshua Biem June 5, 2024 4 The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has expressed sorrow over the recent death of two members of the Nigerian Police family, retired Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adebayo, who was also the Elemure of Emure Ekiti, Ekiti and Deputy Commissioner of Police Abubakar Guri. Egbetokun’s condolence message was contained in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday. He said Adebayo, a retired Commissioner of Police, who died on Friday, left an indelible mark on the nation. “Alayeluwa Oba Emmanuel Adebayo, an esteemed traditional ruler and former Commissioner of Police, departed this world on the evening of May 30th, 2024. His Majesty’s tenure as both a traditional leader and a police commissioner has left a lasting legacy on our nation. Mourning Guri who served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Police Mobile Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja, the IG said his exemplary service to the country continues to inspire those who knew him. “DCP Abubakar Mohammed Guri, who served diligently as the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Police Mobile Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja, passed away on the morning of June 3rd, 2024. DCP Guri was known for his compassion, punctuality, and unwavering commitment to his duties. His exemplary service to our country will continue to inspire all who knew him. “On behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force, the IGP extends heartfelt condolences and prayers to the families of Oba Emmanuel Adebayo and DCP Mohammed Guri. During this difficult time, our thoughts are with you. May the souls of these noble men rest in eternal peace,” he added.
