News Reports Man Detained for Vandalising Graves, Stealing Rods in Bauchi by Joshua Biem September 23, 2024 Published by Joshua Biem September 23, 2024 22 A 21-Year-Old man, Dauda Saidu, has been arrested for allegedly vandalising graves and stealing rods at Yelwa Christian Cemetery in Bauchi State. Spokesman of the Bauchi Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, said in a statement yesterday that the suspect was apprehended on Friday, for trespassing, vandalism, and theft. “Saidu unlawfully entered the Christian cemetery in the Yelwan Kagadama area of Bauchi, damaging several graves and stealing rods in daylight,” Wakil stated. Saidu was said to have confessed during interrogation to the crimes, admitting he had stolen multiple rods and sold them to scrap buyers for N9,500, N12,000, and N5,500 in separate transactions. He further said he spent the money to purchase Indian hemp and food, among others.
