Africa experienced some of these protests in countries like Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria, which caused the world to be transfixed. In Nigeria, the #EndBadGovernance protests occurred between July and August 2024, tracing from the build-up to the aftermath of the protests. Beyond the August protests that rocked different parts of the country, existing violent conflicts continue to pose significant risks in Nigeria. This edition of the Nigeria Violent Conflict Bi-monthly report captured the country’s security situation between July and August 2024 from the lens of the most prevalent crisis types in the country. Between July and August 2024, gunmen attacks dominated North Central Nigeria, banditry was commonplace in the North West while Group violence was predominant in the South West.
